Free tool · AI Access Check

Can AI read your website?

Firewalls, CDNs and website builders now block AI fetchers by default, often without the owner knowing. Check whether the fetchers behind ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude get your page, or a wall.

Free, no account, about ten seconds. We read your robots.txt and request your home page as each AI fetcher identifies itself, with our own name attached.

What you'll see

One line per AI fetcher: whether it got your page, was kept out by robots.txt, turned away by a firewall, shown a challenge page, or given an empty page that needs JavaScript. Then the exact setting or lines to change.

How it works

  1. 01

    Read robots.txt

Your rules decide which fetchers may visit at all. Google-Extended, which controls Gemini, is only a robots.txt rule, so for it this is the whole test.

  2. 02

    Request as each fetcher

Your home page, once as our own crawler and once with each AI fetcher's published user agent (plus our name), from our servers, never from faked addresses.

  3. 03

    Read what came back

Your real page, a refusal (401, 403, 429, 402 pay-per-crawl), a challenge page, or an almost empty page that needs JavaScript. Then the setting or lines to change.

Questions

What does the AI Access Check test?
It reads your robots.txt, then requests your home page once as our own crawler and once with the published user agent of each AI fetcher: OAI-SearchBot (ChatGPT search), PerplexityBot (Perplexity), Claude-SearchBot (Claude) and the training crawlers GPTBot, ClaudeBot and CCBot. Google-Extended, which controls Gemini, is a robots.txt rule rather than a separate visitor, so for it we read robots.txt only.
Why would my site block AI fetchers without me knowing?
Cloudflare has offered one-click AI bot blocking since 2024 and, from July 2025, began blocking AI crawlers by default for many sites. Website builders, hosting firewalls and security plugins can also challenge or refuse automated visitors. Any of these can keep the fetchers that feed AI answers away from your pages.
Is a pass a guarantee that AI can read my site?
No. We request your site the way each AI fetcher identifies itself; real fetchers also come from their published IP ranges, which some firewalls check, so a pass here is necessary but not sufficient. We never fake those addresses, and every request also names Saymeter in its user agent.
Should I block GPTBot, ClaudeBot or CCBot?
That is your choice. They collect training data rather than fetch pages for live answers, so the check shows them but doesn't count them in your score. The fetchers that feed answers (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot and the Google-Extended rule) are the ones that count.
What does it cost and what do you keep?
It's free, limited to 10 checks a day per visitor, and makes no paid calls. We don't store the result or your address; your IP is only kept as a one-day keyed hash for the limit.

Next: does AI actually name you?

Being readable is the start. The free scan asks the AI engines the questions your customers ask, as a stranger in your town would, and shows how often Saymeter finds you named against three local competitors. No account.
